It should not be. Postal codes with letters are normal, and formats like EC1A 1BB, K1A 0B1, 1234 AB and VLT 1117 are all accepted.
What gets rejected is text that is not shaped like a postal code at all. If yours is a real format and it will not go through, tell support and we will fix the rule.
